Hello!
It’s been a fun few months here at the new boutique, and as we settle into the new location, I have gotten back into blogging. I’d like to just share a few pics from the new location of Gorgeous and Green at 2946 College Ave in Berkeley’s Elmwood. In case you haven’t been there yet, we are smack dab in between Ici Ice Cream and Summer Kitchen, so come by for some unique local gifts/plant/flower bouquets and grab a snack at our neighbor’s.
Here’s our locally hand-painted sign:

And the shop from the front:

And the boutique inside, notice the reclaimed chandeliers and the G’s filled with airplants:

We hope to see you soon!

Last fall Gorgeous and Green was approached my a lovely woman Anna, from the 50th UC Berkeley reunion class.

She wanted to bring some Cal colors and overall life and beauty into the Faculty Club, so I rented some beautiful vintage styled wrought iron pedestal vases and created overgrown blue and gold and white arrangements with trailing vines and curly willow. She really wanted it to bring color and nature down onto the tables.
Recycled Biodiesel is used in this Gorgeous and Green delivery vehicle!

The Chancellor was going to speak at their event, so we created a lovely taller arrangement for the background.

I’m a Cal Alum, so of course, Go Bears!

This past fall we had quite a few lovely weddings, and that means many boutonnieres!
Here are a few pics of my favorite boutonnieres:

Boutonnieres are fun, and can be a creative way to add color and texture.

This one is my favorite for a few reasons. First, it’s all local. Including local roses, which is really important to me, in case you haven’t seen the stories about mass rose growers in Ecuador and Latin America and the lack of restrictions in other countries in regard to environmental and social costs. I proudly support local rose growers.
Second, it’s all about the colors we use. I love the warmth of the orange, red and yellow variations. It reminds me of a beautiful sunrise or sunset. Like so many of the beautiful sunsets we witness here in the bay area, with the San Francisco and Golden Gate Bridge skyline. Or the beautiful sunrises I get to witness while I’m traveling over the Bay Bridge to get flowers in SF.
It’s called the Bay Sunrise arrangement and it’s available in the Gorgeous and Green online store for local delivery via bike courier.

It’s such a big hit for local deliveries, that we have started to offer in larger sizes. Here it is in it’s grandest size:

Just thought I’d share some pretty pics. And share again how important it is to go with local with your purchases when you have a chance!

Yesterday Gorgeous and Green created a tablescape for a rustic English Garden styled wedding, and where did I choose to set it? At the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden of course! I love the location because it’s so close to home, I’m super familiar because I’ve done a load of weddings and events here, and it’s beautiful. For local couples and anyone looking to throw a party, it’s a great and fairly inexpensive place to have your event. I chose to set the table in the Redwood Grove, and the setting was almost magical.
Take a look at some photos from the photographer Brittany Waddell:

Today at Gorgeous and Green I made a beautiful blush bouquet for an out of town bride, featuring all locally grown flowers: garden roses, spray roses, stock, dahlias and seeded eucalyptus. Hints of champagne, off white, and blushes of pink and peach.
